Last year, for the first time, we participated in the Suomen Kädentaidot (Finnish Handicrafts) event with our own brand. It was a huge moment for us – the first time we presented ourselves as a company bearing our family's name.
At the event, we participated with a showroom-type concept, where we presented our domestic children's clothing to the general public for the first time, allowing them to see and touch them. We also had the honor of being the only clothing item in the finals of the Product of the Year competition. It was a great recognition for the work we have done for the Finnish clothing industry.
In the spring, we also participated in the Children's Fair (Lapsimessut), where we bravely started selling our products for the first time in a fair environment. These experiences have taught us a lot and given us the courage to embark on this journey for the third time – now wiser than ever.
Sorrow and the decision to continue
A couple of weeks ago, we lost our father, after whom our company was named during the brand change as a tribute. The sorrow is great, and for a moment we were sure that we would skip this year's Kädentaidot fair.
However, our parents' deepest wish was that we continue and represent our family name and carry on the work we started together.
The domestic clothing industry has not had an easy time in recent years. More than 300 companies in the sector went bankrupt last year. We know that the significance of this event is also great for us.
For us, Suomen Kädentaidot is not just a fair – it is a moment when we get to meet you face-to-face, tell our story, and show why we still believe in domestic craftsmanship.
A more sustainable way to participate
This year, we are participating with a slightly different approach than in previous events.
We are not bringing a huge amount of products for sale, but are focusing on made-to-order products and more sustainable practices.
However, there will be a small batch of restored second-hand "Päntzes" available at the fair, which we have saved specifically for this event. In addition, product gift cards will be on sale at a fair price.
The biggest change from before is that the adult clothing collection is now also included. At our stand, you can order a garment completely tailored to your liking: choose the colors, materials, and details. We will measure you on-site to ensure the best possible fit.
Each hoodie and sweatshirt can be finished with embroidery, with your own name or initials if you wish.
You cannot get such personalized and unique clothes for everyday use anywhere else.
