Vainio's story
Vainio's story is beautiful, but bittersweet. Our current online store was opened in 2023 under the original name of our company, Leggo Oy. After one year of sales, our product was found to be excellent and our customers were satisfied. However, not everyone was happy when an unnamed Danish toy giant thought that Leggo was too close to their name. Consequently, Leggo changed to Vainio Clothing Oy in autumn 2024.
Vainio's idea started in 2021, when I heard that my relative's 4-year-old boy had just bought his fourth pair of college pants in a month. All the previous pants were worn out in the child's everyday activities, running around on the floor. It was almost infuriating for me to think that parents buy expensive, foreign-made clothes from "quality brands", and that they end up in the trash before the clothes are at the end of their normal lifespan.
That's why I decided that there had to be a change. Parents of small children need children's clothes that last longer than they are used to and that retain their resale value while also offering the buyer financially better options. At the same time, every purchase decision behind a Vainio product reduces textile waste and supports handcraft work. These are important values for me when I make decisions now and in the future.
My own values go hand in hand with Vainio. The design and manufacturing of the products takes place in Pyhtää, which means that we only truly support 100% domestic work. That's why we don't need to be lazy and preach about "values" and "ethics" - our actions speak for themselves!
Unlike many children's clothing brands, behind Vainio stands a man. It's important for me to be able to work with people close to me, and that's why I invited my best friends to join Vainio. What could be more suitable for busy work with children, than to design comfortable, durable and practical clothes for yourself and your children? Of course there are about a thousand other things, but this is also nice! Vainio's story is at the beginning and our product family will continue to grow.
This time, it's fathers turn!
